Tracking is an ancient art that our ancestors mastered in order to find food to hunt and understand the natural world. Whether you are a novice or experienced this course will change the way you view nature. We will explore animal tracks, scat and various sign to better understand the landscape. While we will certainly cover some of key fundamental themes, every tracking experience is unique, and we will go where the tracks take us. Topics that will likely be explored:
-Help prepare you for the Track and Sign Certification
-identification of tracks and signs
-reading movement and behavior in track patterns
-interaction of weather, soils, and animal behavior to approximate when tracks were made
This unique tracking course is 100% field-based and is sure to be engaging for all.
Led by Paul Hauhtelling. Paul is a longtime naturalist and biologist, ranging throughout WA, OR, and northern CA and currently residing in Bend, OR. He holds a masters in biology and is a certified Professional tracker through CyberTracker International. He is one of only 3 people in North America that holds this certification under the CyberTracker organization.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Payment required in full to secure spot. If cancellation is at least 30 days prior to the course start date 97% of course cost is refunded. If cancellation is within 14 to 30 days prior to course start date 75% of course cost is refunded. If cancellation is within 14 days of course start date 50% of course cost will be refunded. Due to minimum class size requirements we might need to cancel a course, if so we will provide a full refund or offer an alternative course date.
